President Mnangagwa has recently endorsed the use of the local currency in domestic transactions within the country, according to him, this will restore normalcy and is convenient for all while addressing journalists at the African Union – United Nations Wildlife Economy Summit.
The Zimbabwean Government yesterday obliterated the multi-currency which was in full swing in the country since the year 2009.

The president however clarified that possession of foreign currency was not a crime as it had not been banned and they would have to exchange it for local currency for the sake of transactions but that Zimbabwe must have its own currency, any other thing would be abnormal.
