Some residents of Zamfara State have applauded the new security measures put in place recently by the state government to curtail the activities of bandits who attack innocent communities virtually every day.

They stressed the need for all residents to support the state government and security operatives to successfully implement the new security measures to rid the state of bandits and their collaborators who are wreaking havoc on humans and the socio-economic development of the state.

The Zamfara State government had recently introduced new security measures, following the resurgence of bandits’ attacks, killings, and abduction of innocent citizens.

The measures included the closure of all major markets, petrol filling stations at the local government level, schools, some mini motor parks, Lallan, and Anka junctions, which are believed to be camps for bandits’ informants.

Others are the ban on the sale of petrol in jerry cans, restriction of motorcycle, and tricycle operation from 6 am to 6 pm in the 13 local government areas while in Gusau, the state capital, from 6 am to 8 pm, among others.

Some residents of the state observed that the new security measures will stamp out banditry activities as the criminals would not be able to access foodstuff, communicate with families of their victims for ransom, and petrol which enables them to move around.

They said there is a need for more kinds of security measures to end the insecurity in Zamfara State.

Residents of Zamfara State hope that the new security measures being implemented will bring an end to the menace and restore peace, security, and stability in the state.
