Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed, is asking the residents of the state to seek the face of God in fervent prayers, to intervene in the security challenges, bedevilling the state in particular, and Nigeria in general.

He also urged the people to defend their communities against the bandits who are terrorizing innocent citizens of the state.

The Governor made the call while flagging off the prayer session in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, to ask for God’s intervention to overcome insecurity bewildering the state.

The continued bandits’ attacks, killings, and abduction of innocent citizens in Zamfara State are worrisome, despite the introduction of new proactive security measures by the state government and the security agencies to checkmate the activities of the criminal elements.

This is one of the reasons which the state government and the people have resorted to offering special prayer and the reading of the Holy Qur’an to seek God’s intervention in the security situation in Zamfara and other parts of the country.

Governor Mohammed used the occasion to emphasize the need for the citizens to demonstrate love for one another, tolerance, good neighbourliness, as well as promote unity and peaceful co-existence among all, irrespective of religious or political affiliations.

The immediate past Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur Jangebe, said they congregated to pray to God to help the state government and the security agencies to defeat the bandits and restore peace in the state.

Governor Mohammed, shortly after the prayer session, stopped over at the Farida General Hospital in Gusau, the state capital, to inspect the health facility and to see the conditions of the patients there.
