Zamfara Governor, Bello Mohammed defects to APC

The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Governor who spoke in Hausa, could not give a reason for his defection, but declared that from Tuesday, the 29th June 2021, he becomes a member of the ruling APC in the state.

He called on all and sundry to come join hands with him to bring the desired development to the state.

The Chairman Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC, who is the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, led the Governor of Borno, Kaduna, Kogi, Kano, Niger, Jigawa, Ogun, and Plateau States to receive Governor Mohammed, some Federal and State lawmakers as well some former Commissioners and Special Advisers into the APC.

Others in the entourage were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, Former Governors of Borno, two of Zamfara State, Ali Modu Sherrif, Ahmad Sani Yarima, and Abdulaziz Yari.

Governor Buni presented the APC’s flag to Governor Mohammed as the leader of the party in Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahadi Gusau, and some PDP members refused to defect with the Governor to the APC.

The Deputy Governor once said he was born in the PDP and he will remain in the party until he dies.
