A group, African Network for Peace and Good Governance have written to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, demanding for additional 4 slots to be given to the African continent before the 2026 World Cup.
The Executive Director, Bede Aneke, made the demand in an open letter to the FIFA President
He contended that the 5 Slots allocated to Africa were unsatisfactory when compared to other continents.
Aneke expressed regret that Africa with the highest number of member associations in FIFA had just 5 slots while Asia, North America, and South America with far less number of member associations also enjoy 5 and 4 slots.
