The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Hadijat Kabir for allegedly faking her kidnap with her 18-year-old daughter to defraud her husband of 15 million Naira.
Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi who spoke to journalists Monday in Lagos, said the suspect’s husband, Kabir Muraino, had reported the case at Ikotun Police Station before the suspect was arrested.
According to him, investigations revealed that the alleged kidnappers were making their demands from a community in Ogun State, called Ado-Odo, Ado–Odo Ota LGA.
He said officers raided the hideout and the hostages were rescued with two suspects arrested, while the rest fled the scene.
Imohimi said the wife confessed to the crime during interrogation. The case is under investigation with a view to arresting the other fleeing suspects.
