The World Health Organisation, WHO, on Monday, announced the second outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Ebola virus is also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever.
In November 2018, DRC recorded the biggest Ebola outbreak in the nation and the second biggest in history.
Congo confirmed four cases of the Kivu Ebola virus on 1 August 2018.
The second outbreak was confirmed by Tedros Ghebreyesus, World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General in Geneva.
According to him, the second outbreak is close to Mbandaka City.
Following the second outbreak, Bobo Boloko Bolumbu, Provincial Governor announced four Ebola virus death on the radio.
These samples were sent to the national medical research headquarters in Kinshasa, the capital city of DRC for secondary confirmation.
The Provincial Governor urged Congolese not to panic, practice proper hygiene and not shake hands.
The second outbreak comes at the time when the nation is battling with an outbreak of COVID-19 which is a global pandemic and the world’s largest measles breakout.
DRC has 3,200 confirmed cases of the virus, 454 recovered patients, and 72 death poll.
The Ebola virus results in bleeding, organ failure, and death. It can be transmitted from one human to another through contact with body fluids.
