The white couple, who have been identified as Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who pointed guns at a group of marching protesters while protesting against racial injustice, will face criminal charges.

This information was disclosed on Monday by one of the top prosecutors in St. Louis.

The couple would reportedly be charged with the unlawful use of weapons and misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault.

Kim Gardner, a circuit attorney, said that it was an illegal act to wave weapons in a threatening manner while arguing that the McCloskey’s actions could have turned a non-violent protest violent.

Joel Schwartz, McCloskey’s attorney, called the charges against them as disheartening because no crime was committed.

The protest at St. Louis was a result of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, which also took place in many cities in the United States and around the world.
