The refinery will start full operations in December 2023, according to Desmond Inyamah, acting managing director of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC).
When the house of representatives’ ad hoc committee on the condition of the nation’s refineries visited to look at the refinery’s ongoing renovation in Ekpan, Delta state, Inyamah made this information public.
When describing the level of work being done at the facility to the committee members, the acting MD mentioned that the WRPC’s most recent maintenance work was completed between 2004 and 2005.
Johnson Ganiyu, the chairman of the committee, indicated that the inspection’s main goal was to get a firsthand understanding of the WRPC’s current situation.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the site, saying the refineries will address the issues of crude oil importation, scarcity of refined products to meet local consumption, and export when fully functional.
