2018 US Open champion, Naomi Osaka took a step further in her quest for a third Grand Slam Title.
She overpowered American world number 93, Shelby Rogers in straight sets on Wednesday morning, at the Arthur Ash Stadium in New York.
Victory never looked in doubt for Osaka, as she cruised past 27-year-old Rogers with a 6-3 6-4 win. The 22-year-old this time, honoured George Floyd, a black man killed by Minneapolis police officers in May which sparked the #blacklivesmatter movement.
Osaka will now play American and 28th seed Jennifer Brady, for a spot in the finals. Brady qualified for her first grand slam semi-finals defeating first time Kazakhstan’s quarter-finalist Yulia Putintseva 6-3 6-2
