US OPEN: Andy Murray suffers Second-Round Exit in Straight Sets

England’s 33-year-old Andy Murray suffered a shock defeat, as he was overpowered by Canadian prodigy Felix Auger-Aliassime in three straight sets 6-2 6-3 6-4 in New York.

Murray 33, who came back from two sets down in his first-round match on Tuesday was unable to create a break-point against the 20-year-old and the 15th seed, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In an interview after the match, he said he will come back stronger next time, now focusing his attention on the French Open which kicks off on September 27.

Murray’s victory on Tuesday against Nishioka was his first Grand Slam singles match since a hip operation in January 2019.

The 33-year-old also missed the 2019 US Open to focus on his singles return. He was ruled out of January’s Australian Open following a pelvic injury.

The young Canadian will now face France’s Corentin Moutet or Britain’s Dan Evans after rain suspended the game on Thursday night in Queens New York
