The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, has threatened to down-tools following a circular issued by authorities of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, asking all staff to resume for work on Monday, May 1, 2020.

NASU, in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Peter Adeyemi, addressed to the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, argued that the institutions directive runs contrary to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that all educational institutions should remain closed until further notice.

The letter further stressed that the circular issued on May 6, 2020, by the University authority flouts Federal Government’s ease of lockdown directive and will cause an unquantifiable spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Adeyemi called on the PTF and SGF to prevail on the Registrar and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta to stop embarrassing the office of the country’s President by issuing contrary directives, capable of helping to increase the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
