A pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, mainland China popularly believed to be caused by the SARS virus has been found to be a false positive, also the virus leading the epidemic has yet to be identified.

This was made known by the medical authorities in the people’s republic of china, it was gathered that the cause of pneumonia could be an unknown existing pathogen.

The seafood market is believed to have been the start point of the outbreak according to the World Health Organization. The health officials are trying every means to tame the spread of the virus, identify people who came in contact with it and most importantly identify the pathogen that caused the outbreak.

The outbreak, a source of concern has the City, which is home to millions of people (11 million) in a bind. On Friday, 44 people were admitted but it has speedily gone up to 55 people with the suspected symptoms of the outbreak on Sunday.

Hong Kong which is about an hour drive on the train to Wuhan also has 14 people infected with the outbreak, these people had visited Wuhan. This includes a small two years old boy.

According to the Minister of Health in Singapore, a 3-year-old girl in China also had pneumonia after visiting Wuhan. In China and Hong Kong, people are strictly checked at Airport and another transit point as a curb to the outbreak spread.

“While the causative pathogen and cause of infection are still under investigation, respiratory pathogens including influenza viruses, avian influenza viruses, adenovirus, Severe acute respiratory syndrome [Sars] and the Middle East respiratory syndrome have been ruled out,” according to the mainland National Health Commission.
