African Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, a civil society organisation, has begun tracking Federal Government’s use of the late General Sani Abacha’s loot that Switzerland repatriated to Nigeria.
ANEEJ is collaborating with others, supported by United Kingdom agency, UK Aid Direct, to verify that the funds are spent as promised by the Federal Government: on the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme in the 36 states.
According to ANEEJ Group Executive Director, David Ugolor, the group’s involvement in the process was prompted by ”the fact that we were part of the MoU between Switzerland and Nigeria for the repatriation of this tranche of the Abacha loot.”
