Ugandan police women hold placards protesting violence against women at a march in Kampala, Uganda
Police officers in Uganda have come out in protest in what seems to be an attempt to change the perception of Ugandan men towards women in their society.
It is reported that the men treat women with little or no dignity and attribute to them as much regard as they would inanimate objects. With the information that shows that one in three women suffer from abuse both sexual and physical violence and Ugandan men find hitting women a thing of the norm.
The officials have come out to call out the unfair actions of their fellow men and show solidarity with women on matters of equal rights movement demanding for Peace nationwide beginning from the home front.
The protest seemed to yield some benefits as an officer claimed an individual claimed the movement has in his own words “opened his eyes”.
