Two individuals have been confirmed dead in what has been described as a stampede over Christmas freebies as an NGO invited her members to come for free Christmas packages yesterday along the East/West Road of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Not only were two reported dead, but several others also sustained visible injuries and some fainted in a bid to get to the front and not miss out on the Christmas packages.
The Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, has confirmed the incident and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
