United Nations staff is on the ground in Turkey and Syria to assess needs and provide assistance, after huge earthquakes tore through.

U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the United Nations is mobilizing an emergency response and support to assist all those hit by the disaster.

Earthquakes, hours apart, killed more than 2,200 people and injured thousands more on Monday in Turkey and northwest Syria, flattening apartment blocks.
