US President, Joe Biden who recently, on Saturday to be precise referenced the events of the year 1915 that led to the death of Armenians in eastern Anatolia as a genocide has been met with a stiff backlash from the Turkish President.

Erdogan who on Monday denounced Biden’s ‘unfounded’ statement says his claims are contrary to the facts. he also maintains that many Turks died at the hands of Armenians in many locations and as such Biden’s statement is misleading as there is no evidence.

He also suggested that the truth should be investigated by historians and experts instead of politicians. In a statement, Erdogan challenges the view of Biden by asking him to take a look in the mirror.

“If you call it genocide, you should look in the mirror and evaluate yourselves,” said Erdogan

Despite the fact that 30 countries have referenced the events that occured during World War I as a genocide, Turkey has chosen to refer to the same event as a tragedy for which both sides suffered.

In 2014 he expressed his condolences to the Armenian descendants who lost families in the unfortunate event.
