The union of Tunisian Journalists and several non-governmental organizations organized a protest that saw hundreds of demonstrators march through the streets of Tunis on Saturday Chanting “No to racism.” and holding placards.
The demonstrators denounced hate against migrants, days after the Tunisian president, Kais Saied claimed there was a plot to erase Tunisia’s identity by bringing immigrants from sub-Saharan countries.
At a national security council meeting, Saied said measures were needed to address the illegal entry of sub-Saharan Africans who allegedly committed violence, crimes and unacceptable practices.
