Following the announcement made by President Trump on Thursday about a further $100billion tariffs on Chinese exports, the Dow closed at 572 point on the 6th of April 2018. Over that day it fell by as much as 767 points.

All 30 companies listed on the Dow lost a bit of ground on Friday. Companies with great exposure to the Chinese markets such as Caterpillar (CAT), Boeing (BA) and Nike (NKE) were amongst some of the biggest losers on the day.

Experts are saying that all the back-and-forth between both nations, especially from President Trump is just a negotiation tactic being used as a medium to reach a common trade ground. And there have been talks that President Trump will not impose these new tariffs, as it will greatly affect certain industries in the US. Even investors are holding out in hopes and anticipation that both sides can reach a deal before trade barriers are set to go into effect.
