The Secret Behind ‘Citation ‘ Casting- Kunle Afolayan

Nigerian actor, film producer, film producer, and director, Kunle Afolayan, recently released his new movie ‘Citation’ and it is currently making waves on Netflix.

The movie was privately screed at the Obafemi Awolowo University in August 2020.

Citation the Movie shows an intelligent master’s student, called Moremi who speaks out when her popular professor tries to sexually assault her and the reaction of the university board towards her claim.

The cast of the movie included the likes of Temi Otedola who starred as the lead actor in the movie, along with side veteran actress Joke Silva, Ini Edo, Jimmy Jean Louis, and many more.

In an interview with Plus TV entertainment show, TEA TIME, Mr. Afolayan revealed the idea behind the cast selection.

He said everyone has their time to shine, and when that time comes, the universe would definitely align, and this applies to Temi Otedola.

The Director explained how he met her in London, even before the script was written and how she expressed her interest in becoming a part of the movie.

He later sent her a shot of the movie and told her to run a monologue of it and that was when he knew he had found his lead actress.

Afolayan further said his cast selection was not based on how popular, beautiful, or talented a person is, it has to be a combination of everything.

He was then asked about the appearance of Nigerian businesswoman and motivational speaker, Ibukun Awosika in the movie, he replied saying the initial plan was to cast Mrs. Taiwo Ajayi, but she was unavailable.

Then it was revealed in a dream that he should cast Mrs. Awosika who agreed as long as she gets to keep her persona in the movie.

Citation is a movie based on true life experiences, with its brilliant plots and dialogues combined into 151 minutes of pure entertainment and enlightenment.
