Nigeria’s 61st Independence Day celebration in Adamawa State has been a long-awaited event.

The year 2013 was the last time Independence Anniversary was marked due to the activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the state.

It is exactly seven years since the Nigerian Independence Day celebration was marked in Adamawa state due to insurgency.

The event which was held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square Yola began with a colourful parade.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, in his speech, called on Adamawa residents to remember the people that lost their lives as a result of insurgency, farmers-herders crisis, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity.

Spectators were at the Ribadu Square to catch a glimpse of the Independence Celebration after seven long years.

The police, paramilitary, students, and other groups wowed them with their different parade march pasts.
