Tension mounts in Jos as youths protest Tuesday night attack

Tension was Wednesday mounted in Jos, the Plateau State capital, as the news of the killings of people of Zalwan Zangam community in Jos North went viral.

At the Plateau Specialist Hospital where the corpses of some of the victims were taken generated an outburst of anger from residents who could not hide their feelings.

At the Hospital was a moment of venting out anger over Tuesday’s attack on innocent people of Zalwan Zangam.

The Christian Association Chairman Plateau State, Polycarp Lubo, who was at the hospital to see things for himself wondered if the curfew imposed on Jos North was effective only in specific areas. Lubo, however, said that he is yet to come to terms with last night killings.

He said the association is left with no other choice than to ask the people to stand up and defend themselves.

Residents could not hold their displeasure over the attack as they moved they bodies to the premises of the Plateau State House of Assembly calling on the lawmakers to take responsibility, with some calling for the impeachment of the Governor.

The Speaker, Nuhu Abok, called for calm, assuring that the state of insecurity is of great concern to the lawmakers.

For now, tempers are high watching to see if the government will fish out perpetrators just as it did for those killed at Rukuba road in Jos.
