A teenager in Bayelsa State is currently in detention at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Yenogoa State for allegedly posting a nude video of a retired Permanent Secretary of Bayelsa State on social media.
The prosecuting counsel, Victor Uchendu, claims the teenage girl engaged in cyberstalking by circulating the said video via WhatsApp after failing to secure the sum of 15 million Naira as a form of compensation not to, an act he claimed violates the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act of 2015.
She has pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge but has been denied bail despite being granted the same by a Bayelsa High Court.
The next hearing is due on the 21st of October, 2021.
