Judiciary workers have commenced their indefinite strike to demand financial autonomy from the federal government. The Supreme Court in Abuja and others across the federation have already been shut to the effect.

Despite the attempt by the Nigerian Bar Association to quell the industrial action but the workers perceived the attempt as ill-timed. The National Judicial Council and the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) were affected.

The House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila had earlier appealed for the courts to not be shut, but all attempts to stop the action seemed unfruitful.
