Start-Up Friday: Story of Chinedu Echeruo who sold Hotstop to Apple for $1 Billion!

Serial Entrepreneur and Founder, Chinedu Echeruo is a Nigerian who spent most of his early years in Nigeria, attended Kings College Yaba, Lagos for his secondary education, went to Syracuse for his degree in B.S. Finance and Accounting.

He later went on to attend Harvard Business School for his MBA sold his start-up Hotstop to Apple for a whopping $1 Billion as far back as 2013.

Chinedu worked at J.P Morgan Chase, an investment bank where he worked on a lot of M&A financing and private equity. He also worked with AM Investment Partners, a company based on arbitrage hedge funds.

Chinedu launched Hotstop as a solution to a very mainstream challenge of getting lost in New York over the course of four years with a russian developer, a solution which he further adapted to cater to Europe, Canada and the United Kingdom shortly afterwards he left his role there and returned to Nigeria to focus on starting up an equity.

Chinedu has shared that most entrepreneural ventures fail because of lack of access to information and lack of money, and therefore urged budding entrepreneurs to work towards creating value while creating products and to always keep the user at the core of the creation process.

Chinedu has since moved on to create Gigameet, a solution that helps to connect businesses and individuals with notable people to speak and connect with them. According to him, one hour is enough to change anyone. He is also the co-founder of the Love and Magic Company, a startup studio and also an Inventor.
