Julius Maada Bio, the President of Sierra-Leone is now in a two-week-long quarantine after one of his guards was confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19. On Monday, 20 April, The Sierra-Leone President stated that he and his family are in relatively good health and have not shown any of the symptoms of coronavirus.

Julius took to his Twitter page and announced in a tweet that the EOC is testing all those who made contacts with his guard that tested positive to the virus. According to Julius, the guard has gone into a compulsory 14-day quarantine.

In the same tweet, he assured his citizens that his administration will remain transparent to the people while admonishing them to practice proper hygiene and practising other safety precautions as the country continues to battle COVID-19.

Sierra-Leone is a country is west Africa wit 50 confirmed cases of the virus, no recorded death and 6 people who tested negative to the virus. On the other hand, South Africa which has the highest number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in Africa announced that the daily number of COVID-19 infections has dropped from 42 to 4 per cent.

This was disclosed by the Deputy minister Thembi Siweya. According to Siweya, if the stay-home measures were not implemented, the daily number of infections would have skyrocketed.

South Africa is now in the 4th-week of its 35-day lockdown. South Africa has 3,456 confirmed cases, 1,055 recovered persons and 58 recorded death.
