Second Republic President, Shehu Shagari is dead.
According to a tweet from his grandson, Bello Shagari, the former President died after a brief illness at the National Hospital Abuja.
In another tweet, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, confirmed the death of President Shagari.
The late President Shagari was aged 93. Shehu shagari was President from 1979 to 1983.
