23 Grand Slam Singles Title Champion, Serena Williams has pulled out of the on-going French open, as a result of the Achilles injury sustained at the 2020 US Open.

As a result of this, Grand Slam Title No. 24 will not happen for the number 6th seeded Williams. Serena who was due to play her US Open quarter-final opponent Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round.

In a statement said she had to focus on her walk, as the Achilles is a real injury no one would want to play with. The world No. 9 further said, she will not take part in any tennis this year, as she plans to rest and recover for the remainder of 2020.

The tennis great will now wait another year for a Grand Slam title after losing two previous finals in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Her elder sister, Venus Williams was ousted in the first round by Slovakia’s Anna Karolína Schmiedlová.
