Federal lawmakers in the Senate returned to the plenary on Tuesday after two weeks break to the ugly sight of a leaking roof in the hallway of the Senate chamber.

For several hours, officials of the contracted cleaning and maintenance company battled frantically to bail water from the leaking roof.

Their intervention stopped the water from flooding the hallway and adjourning corridors to the chamber.

The National Assembly had in 2019 said it will require a whopping 37 billion Naira to renovate the building which was built over 20 years ago.

The sum of money required was greeted by a huge public outcry and the National coming under serious pressure to provide a breakdown of the funds which was requested by the Federal Capital Territory Development Agency, FCTDA, and approved by the President.
