The Federal Government Social Intervention Program has dismissed local government coordinator and ten other cooks for the National Home Grown School Feeding Program for alleged frauds in Jigawa State.

Bala Usman Chamo, the State Focal Person Social Intervention Program, disclosed this while briefing reporters at the official flag-off of the distribution of stainless eating bowls and spoons for the program.

Chamo explained that after the implementation of National Home Grown School Feeding Program in Jigawa State within the last four-year tenure, the number of enrollment of pupils has increased by 35% in Jigawa State.

The State Focal Person Social Intervention Program said Jigawa State Government is spending 65,205,100 monthly to compliment the Federal government efforts.

“Jigawa State Government decided to compliment the federal government feeding program of class 1 to 3 pupils through monthly contribution of over 65m to feed the remaining pupils of class 4 to 6,” he stated.

Chamo said the National Home Grown School Feeding Program aimed at reducing malnutrition among school aged pupils, increase enrolment and retention of the pupils in primary schools, and create job and other economic impacts to women and farmers.

He expressed his dismay over the attitudes of some local government focal persons and cooks for sabotaging the governments efforts through diversion of the funds for their personal use.

“So far, we have disengaged one Laval government focal person and ten cooks for violation of the program guidelines.”
