Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood are two of the six players nominated for the PFA Young Player of the year. Joining the duo are Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford.
Coincidentally, all the nominees are English which is a great sign for the future of English football. Also, this year, the criteria for nominating young players was amended. Only players 21 and under by July 1st are eligible for the PFA Young Player award.
This category would be tightly contested as all the players nominated are more than deserving of the award. In terms of goals, assists, chances created and match-winning performances, these youngsters have excelled.
Some of these players narrowly missed out on recognition at the Premier League awards and would be looking forward to recognition from their colleagues. The winners will be announced on the 8th of September, 2020.
