Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished the rape allegations leveled against him by an American woman, Kathryn Mayorga as “fake news”. Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine originally reported the allegations made by Kathryn aged 34, who alleged that Ronaldo raped her in a hotel room in 2009.

After the alleged incident, Kathryn Mayorga reportedly filed a rape report with the Las Vegas Police.

She reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronaldo in 2010, which involved a non-disclosure agreement – a payment worth £288,000 for her silence but her lawyers now seek to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.

Reacting to the accusations, Ronaldo’s lawyers disclosed they will sue Der Spiegel magazine, which originally reported the allegations and seek compensation for “moral damages” while Ronaldo himself in an Instagram video said, “They want to promote themselves by using my name. It’s normal.”
