Rochas Okorocha claims becoming a State Governor diminished his Wealth

Former Imo State Governor and now Imo West District Senator, Rochas Okorocha, who has in recent times been subject to public ridicule after his buildings were confiscated by the current administration and was at some point held in police custody claims he grew poorer over the eight years he served as governor.

The former governor made those pronouncements while denying he acquired any assets with government funds and detailing his embarrassing ordeal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

According to the senator, the Imo state government has dragged him to a Federal High Court in Abuja over the same issue and the EFCC is acting on a tip-off. Read his statement below:

“I challenge anybody to prove that I acquired any property with any government fund.

“I think people have forgotten that I was Rochas before becoming the governor of Imo State; I think they have forgotten completely.

“If anything, becoming a governor made me even poorer than what I was in the past. I don’t know whether I acquired any property here in Abuja, there is none.”

“EFCC is doing their job because if there is no report, they can’t nose into whatever you are doing; EFCC is not witch-hunting, they are acting on a petition being written by somebody.”
