rivers state reconstitute taskforce

Members of the reconstituted task force on street trading, illegal motor parks, taxi ranks, and automobile workplaces have been urged to discharge their duties within the ambits of the law.

This comes right after several persons complained of high-handedness and brutality in the activities of the task force.

The former Rivers State task force on street trading, illegal motor parks, taxi ranks, and automobile workplaces was disbanded in August last year following public outcry over its mode of operation due to inhumane actions of some members of the task force.

However, on the 4th of January this year a reformed task force has been reconstituted by the Rivers State Government and began operations in earnest.

The refocused task force wants members of society to obey the government’s rules and regulations and warned that any reneging member of the task force will be made to face the full wrath of Law.

The expectation of Port Harcourt residents is that the roads will be freed from illegal parks and traders therefore the new taskforce has so much work to do.
