Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria has called on journalists to always strike a balance when reporting issues bothering on national security.

The call was made by its Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, at an interactive session on responsible security reporting in Abuja.

While analysing the reported invasion of the premises of the Daily Trust newspapers, he tasked members of the media to always verify their information to avoid misconception.

Other key players present at the event outlined ways in which the media and the military can have a cordial relationship while carrying out their duties.

The core objective of the session was how to foster cordial military-media relations with a view to strengthening national security.
