The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind his directive to security agencies to be ruthless with ballot box snatchers.

National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, made the call while declaring open the 84th National Executive Council meeting of the party in Abuja.

Here’s an analysis of what President Buhari’s Statement means

Nigeria Decides 2019

The controversial statement by President Buhari directing the security agencies to shoot ballot box snatchers at sight has continued to generate reactions, even as Nigerians set for another date on Saturday.

The worry is now rife that if security agents implement the presidential directive, the stage may be set for large scale violence and killings.

Tuesday’s 84th emergency NEC meeting of the PDP discussed this development at length as the tone was set by Secondus and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

For other national leaders of the party, the President plans to systematically use the military to intimidate eligible voters during the rescheduled polls must be abhorred by Nigerians.

The PDP also revealed plans by the APC to arm trained supporters in hampering the smooth run of card readers.

The PDP NEC meeting resolved that all eligible Nigerian voters must stand firm in their decision to exercise their franchise at all cost on Saturday.
