Also from the red chamber, The Senate has urged the CBN to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of old naira notes from circulation to July 31, 2023.
The resolution of the Senate was sequel to a motion moved by Senator representing Kwara North, Senator Suleiman Sodiq during plenary.
Sodiq in his lead debate, noted that, if the withdrawal of old naira notes from circulation is not extended beyond January 31 2023, many Nigerians would be thrown into serious hardship.
While supporting the motion, other lawmakers maintained that the call for the extension of the deadline date should be considered as a matter of urgent national importance.
Meanwhile Senator Sam Egwu has called for the implementation of the policy, stating that the country is ripe enough to implement it
