Following their first football game at the highest point in the world (Mount Kilimanjaro), a group of brave courageous women have their sights set on playing the first football match at the lowest point of the globe; the Dead Sea is the lowest point on dry land.

Agency reports say a group consisting of 40 women both retired and current internationals will be taking part in the journey. The event starts with a 12-day trek around Jordan that is currently on, then it would be concluded with a 90-minute 11-a-side football match at the Dead Sea.

Should they be successful, they would be on course to set the record for highest-point and lowest-point football games played, all within one year.

The aim is to bring about gender equality in sports and to bring about inclusion for girls in the Middle Eastern region who have probably never engaged in sports of any sort. It’s being organized by an organization known as “Equal Playing Field”. His Royal Highness Prince Al Bin Al Hussein and the Asia Football Development Project are supporting this event. The event will be taking place from April 6 to April 13, 2018.
