He described queen Elizabeth II as widely admired for her grace, dignity, and dedication around the world.
Guterres said the longest-lived and longest-reigning head of state had a reassuring presence throughout decades of sweeping change.
The white house, on its part expressed deep sympathies over the queen’s death, with spokeswoman karine jean-pierre noting she was the leader of one of the united states strongest allies.
