The ongoing probe of financial activities of the Project Development Institute, PRODA Enugu by the House of Representatives has turned controversial with a board of the institute accusing some lawmakers of contract scam.

The governing board of the PRODA also asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), to immediately investigate members of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement for alleged contract scam and receiving of payments on unexecuted phony contracts.

Chairman of the board, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, who made the call in Abuja on Thursday accused the lawmakers of conniving with the suspended Director-General of the Agency, Charles Agulana, to perpetrate the crime.

The Board Chairman also alleged that most of the projects the National Assembly members claim their contractors have completed are in several instances without site locations, bills of quantities, and scope of work.

Recall that the House of Representatives had on Wednesday endorsed a report of its Committee on Public Procurement that investigated PRODA’s finances calling on the presidency to immediately suspend the DG of PRODA and investigate him and members of the Board of Agency for the alleged illegal award of contracts and payment to contractors.
