Though President Trump abruptly aborted plans to retaliate on Iran’s hit on the U.S Drones, the aborted the military strike because in his words he didn’t think it was proportionate and could have killed at least 150 people.
The drone incident which occurred around the Strait of Hormuz aggravated fears of a war between the United States and Iran and sent oil prices high to over $65 per barrel.
President Trump has found an alternative to a proportionate measure against the Country by imposing more sanctions against the country to prevent them from obtaining nuclear weapons.
As for whether military action is still an option, The U.S President commented that until the situation was resolved, military action would always be a possibility.
Other notable countries being sanctioned by President Trump are Zimbabwe and China.
