Pope Francis’ in his recent address to the topmost oil company officials on Saturday, declared that the world must adapt to clean energy and advised that climate change endangers humankind.
The Pope made this known at a two-day conference in the Vatican, further stating that although civilization needs energy, energy use should not, however, destroy civilization.
He also added that the world needs an alternative energy mix that combats pollution, eradicates poverty and encourages social justice.
The conference, which was the first of its kind, was behind closed doors at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and it brought together investors, oil executives and Vatican experts with a view to curbing global warming.
