Pope Francis on Sunday lit a candle for the children of Syria, adhering to the initiative of “Aid to the Church in Need”.
“May these flames of hope disperse the darkness of war,” Francis told thousands of people gathered in St. Peter’s Square for his weekly blessing, praying for the children tormented by a war that has lasted for eight years.
The candle lit by Pope was decorated with the photos of Syrian children.
