The National Association of Polytechnic Students has staged a protest in front of the Headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja demanding the immediate resolution of issues between the government and striking Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP.

President of the student union, Sunday Asuku, and other leaders berate the Federal Government for allowing the strike to linger for almost two months.

Despite appeals and assurance from a Director in the Ministry of Education of the government’s commitment to resolve the issues, the protesting students insisted on hearing from the Ministers of Education to be more convinced, as the vow to continue to cripple official activities.

A situation that eventually forced the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, to address the concerns of the students.

The ASUP has been on strike since March 2021 over the non-implementation of minimum wage, the establishment of a Polytechnic Commission among other complaints.
