Three persons were reportedly shot dead Friday night in Zanwra area of Jebbu Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

The killing took place just three days after the peace and security meeting organised by the Plateau State Peace Building Agency in partnership with the United States Institute for Peace, Justice, and Security, with monetary support from the US Embassy in Nigeria.

The meeting had as its subject: “The resurgence of violence in Plateau State: Towards a multi-stakeholder partnership for peace and security.”

The attack is reported to have occurred hours after the visit of Maj. Gen. Augustine Agundu, the new Commander of the Special Military Taskforce codenamed ‘Operation Safe Haven’.

The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Matthias Tyopev, confirmed the killing, saying investigations had begun.

He identified the dead as: “Emmanuel Gado ‘M’ aged 22, Ladi Monday ‘F’ aged 30 and Mary Monday ‘F’ aged 5.”

He added that they have been buried by relations according to Irigwe tradition, and appealed to members of the public to help with needed information to unravel the mystery behind the attack.
