Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, says stringent measures have been put in place by the Federal Government to end the circle of killings in Plateau State.

General Irabor disclosed this at a town hall meeting while addressing Plateau stakeholders during a visit to Governor Simon Lalong in Jos, the state capital.

The recent resurgence of attacks and killings in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, is perhaps the reason for this visit by the Chief of Defence Staff.

His first point of call was the Headquarters of the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven to inspect a military Quater Guard.

The Chief of Defense Staff then proceeded to the Plateau Government house for a meeting with Governor Lalong and Plateau stakeholders and addressed them after the meeting which lasted for several hours.

General Irabor said that the desire of President Muhammadu Buhari is to ensure that lasting peace returns to Plateau State.

Governor Lalong applauded the role played by the armed forces in calming nerves during the crisis.

The Chief of Defence Staff, who later visited some of the affected communities, also hosted journalists for a parley where he charged them to be factual in their reportage towards promoting peace.
