A Plateau State High Court presided by Justice M. L. Musa, has reinstated Honourable Nuhu Abok as the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly.
Abok was impeached in October 2021 and was replaced by Yakubu Sanda.
Dissatisfied with the House’ decision, Abok approached the State High Court for a redress.
In its judgment, the Court upheld the submissions of the complainant that the impeachment was illegal and, therefore, null and void.
The Court further awarded the sum of N1.5million as cost of appearance and the sum of N138,000 as cost of filing the suit against the defendants.
Members of the people’s democratic party caucus in the state house of assembly, hailed the judgement.
In a swift reaction to the development, the majority leader of the house of assembly Naanlong Daniel said the house was not in receipt of the said judgement as the news only came to them as a rumour.
Th reinstated speaker Nuhu Abok has insisted on returning to the house on Tuesday.
