On Monday night in a television address, the Filipino President stated that sending children back to school despite mount in the number of cases ‘’spells disaster’’.

The school was traditionally supposed to start in June. However, the outbreak of the pandemic that has infected 14,669 people in the country, made the country’s Department of Education postpone it to August 24.

Although, the re-opening, according to the Department, won’t necessarily imply students returning back to the four walls of the classroom.

Students going back to school physically will depend on the risk of pandemic disease.

However, learning for some students with access to computers and the internet isn’t stopped.

Some schools in the country engage their students in online classes. The case is different, however, for those in remote areas.

Some parents have taken up the responsibility of teaching their kids at home using instructional materials from school.
