PFA stands with Sterling against racism

The Professional Footballers’ Association has backed Raheem Sterling, following the alleged racial abuse he suffered during Manchester City’s loss to Chelsea.

After the match, the English forward had through his Instagram account, accused the British media of helping to fuel racism with the way they portrayed young black footballers.

Simone Pound, the head of equality and diversity for the PFA said, “Raheem has made a stand by speaking out and we stand shoulder to shoulder with him against the discrimination of which he speaks.”

The PFA through a statement, called for clubs to take the strongest possible action for fans found guilty of racially abusing players and also commended Sterling for his professionalism and statement against racism.
